Prevention is the Key

The good news about aging is that 90% of the visible signs are caused by things that we can change. This page outlines some of those factors and provides links to more information on each. Making just a few changes and following some of these antiaging tips can start you on your way to looking younger.



#1. The Sun The sun is one of the main causes of damage to our skin. UVA rays cause aging of the skin and UVB rays cause burning which can lead to skin cancer. Using sunscreen every time you are in the sun can protect you from these rays. "Need" a tan? Try a sunless tanner. They've improved dramatically over the past few years. Try these sun protection tips.

#2. Smoking Don't do it! In addition to being harmful to your health, smoking is a major cause of wrinkles, especially around the mouth area. Want to look younger (& have more energy)? Stop smoking.


#3. Stress Believe it or not, stress plays an important role in premature aging. We all experience some degree of stress but to prevent aging, try to reduce your stress. Relax. Read a good book. Take a nap. Go on vacation. Meditate. All of these will help to reduce your stress level.


#4. Poor Nutrition You knew this was coming. What goes on in the inside shows up on the outside. So watch what you eat. Check out what foods contribute to looking and feeling younger.

#5 Toxins We are bombarded with toxins every day. There are chemicals in our food and in what we drink. There's pollution in the air we breathe and even toxins on some of the things we touch. Consider adding a detox program into your lifestyle to help reduce stress and get rid of toxins.
