Antiaging Fashion

Are the clothes you're wearing making you look older than you really are? These antiaging fashion tips will guide you to a younger looking style.

We've all seen the gal who wants to look younger so she dresses in all the latest styles. While this may seem like a good thing, she often looks like an adult that is trying to look like a teenager.

We're not teenagers, we're adults. In fact, we're often more pulled together and sophisticated than we were when we were in our twenties. Your goal should be to look sharp, stylish and not matronly.

First, decide what fashion style suits your personality and lifestyle. Are you sophisticated and tailored? Do you gravitate toward dresses with more lace and ruffles? Are you a more casual, outdoorsy type? You've had plenty of years to develop your own style. Invest in some classic wardrobe basics, then add to it using the latest colors and accessories.

Next, be sure that you know your basic color palate. That means you know what colors work well with your skin tone. The wrong colors, both in makeup and in clothes can highlight wrinkles and no one wants that. That lovely orange color may be in style, but if you can't wear it...

More Antiaging Fashion Tips

  • Wear classic styles. Update using latest colors and fabrics.
  • Don't wear retro styles if you wore them in your younger days.
  • Keep wardrobe current, but not too young.
  • If you wear jeans, stay away from the low rise. Choose ones that sit slightly below the waist for a modern, but not "too young" look.
  • Make sure your clothing fits well. Clothes that are too baggy or too tight give the appearance of "age."
  • Keep your skirts to your knees. Leave the mini skirts to the teenagers. Even if you have great legs, it looks like you're trying too hard to look young.
  • Spend more on shoes and purses to update your style each season.
  • Updating scarves and jewelry is another way to keep your style fresh and youthful.
