Anti-Aging Remedies

Aging is a normal process. However, the diseases, aches and pains are not. Why not try some of these anti-aging remedies to slow down the effects of time.

Aging can be broken down into 2 different areas - Physical Aging and Mental Aging. How often have you heard someone say, "Her health is poor but her mind is good." There are no guarantees, but our goal should be to strengthen both mind and body well into old age.

These tips are not in any specific order. All of them contribute to keeping the body younger.

  • Exercise - You've heard it before, but it bears repeating. Exercise is probably one of the best ways to keep your body young. Get out there and move!
  • Eat right - Proper nutrition is another great way to keep your body healthy at any age, but especially as we get older. We can't eat like we did when we were kids. As we age, we need less calories, so let's make them count.
  • Eliminate Stress - It is amazing how much stress contributes to the aging process. Do whatever you can to reduce the stress at your job and in your life.
  • Maintain a Good Attitude - Attitude has more to do with the quality of our lives than many realize. Be optimistic. Don't hold grudges. Forgive often. You'll feel better.
  • Get Enough Sleep - As some people get older, they say they don't sleep as well. However, it is possible that inactivity is to blame for this. Older people fall asleep quicker following exercise and sleep longer. Another plug for exercise.
  • Include Strength Training in your Exercise Routine - Strength training builds muscle, raises metabolism and improves overall health.
  • Do Something New - This may not seem like an anti-aging remedy, but it is. It helps to keep your mind young. I'm learning Spanish and while it's not easy, it is rewarding and keeps my brain thinking.
  • Stay Away from Toxins - We live in a toxic environment. Cars, factories, pesticides and chemicals all contribute to it. Eat as much organic food as possible. Detox your outer body as well to remove toxins from the air.
  • Play games - Kids love games, why shouldn't we. Get out a board game when you have friends over. Or try your hand at Wii. Some of those games will not only challenge your mind but give you an exercise workout as well.
