Table of Contents In this issue you'll find: Resveratrol - A New Antiaging Chemical?
Resveratrol - A New Antiaging Chemical? One of the most interesting antiaging news stories that I’ve heard recently is about a chemical called resveratrol. It seems that this chemical, found in red wine just may extend one’s lifespan. Of course there is a lot of research that still needs to be done. However, The Wall Street Journal announced at the end of April that GlaxoSmithKline, the pharmaceutical giant, would buy Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, the company responsible for “discovering” the link, for $ 720 million. That’s a lot for the right to pursue the development of this compound. What’s interesting is that resveratrol hasn’t been proven to extend a human’s lifespan, nor has research been done to determine the possible risks and side effects. The chemical may very well promote longevity, however, isolating chemicals and injecting them or popping them in pill form may not be the best solution. It will be years before more research is done and resveratrol is made available to the public, if ever. In the meantime, eat right, exercise and use skin care with anti-aging properties to help you look and feel better now.
Kissable Lips - Even Through The SummerThis quote is from MSNBC: "Some dermatologists say that slathering on shiny lip glosses can actually increase your risk of developing skin cancer. Better than nothing: Wear a lip gloss with SPF. The sunscreen provides protection against the sun’s damaging UV rays. But it’s not the best option, dermatologists say, especially because it's hard to find a lip gloss with more protection than SPF 15." PRODUCT SUGGESTION - Everyone should be protecting their lips using some sort of sunscreen. Arbonne International’s LipSaver has an SPF of 30 and anti-aging ingredients. Use it every day to protect your lips from the sun’s damaging rays. Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot?Are you experiencing heat flashes? Check out this new page that offers some tips to keeping cool when the hot flashes arrive. Eatin' the Blues (berries, that is)We went to visit our grandchildren last week. They live in the blueberry capital of the US. We just missed the blueberry festival, but thought I’d offer a blueberry recipe this month anyway. Blueberries are super high in anti-aging antioxidants. Try this cold fruit soup this summer.Chilled Blueberry Soup 2 cups blueberries Mix blueberries, orange juice, allspice and nutmeg in a blender on low speed. Chill in the refrigerator. To serve. Ladle soup into individual bowls and spoon ½ cup yogurt into the center of each. Garnish with half of a thin orange slice. Serves 4. What a great way to start the summer! |
